Can I just say that I do not like the phrase "my missionary"? You won't believe how many times I heard it this summer. There were a lot of Oakcrest counselors who had boyfriends on missions. I understand that they have strong feelings for boys that happen to be on missions, but really, it's just silly to call them "your missionary".
One time, (or maybe a few) when I received a letter, I was asked if it was "my missionary". I do not own a missionary. I just think it's plain silly. That's all :)
I also think the whole "waiting" thing is silly too. If it's right it'll happen whether you wait or not. There are so many dating experiences you would miss if you waited for a boy to return from a mission. Dating is good. It opens your eyes to what is really out there and helps you learn more about yourself.
But then, there are girls that say they're waiting but really they're not. Two years is a long time. Reality is, things change.
The Hey There Delilah song was very funny :)
To my close friends that have strong feelings for boys that are on missions I'm not talking about you. :) I just heard a lot about it over the summer. And then my sister's post made me think.
If you want some entertainment, you should read, my sister, Janet's blog fairly happy. She's incredible.

I was wondering why you hadn't commented on my blog. A whole dedicatory post of your own is much better.
So, tell the truth... who is YOUR missionary? The Luke look-a-like or cute basketball player? Did you like the Delilah clip?
And from a married woman's point of view, I am so glad my husband didn't have a girl friend at home while he was serving.. whether or not she dear john-ed him. It makes me feel less bad about not knowing him while he was serving.
Love you, sis!
As an ex-missionary, ex-MTC teacher, and guy I 100% agree.
Cindy, I remember asking a girl I hadn't seen for a while what she was up to. Her response, "waiting for my missionary". Oh, brother. How do you wait for a missionary for 2 years? Just sit there and do nothing? I'm sure she had a job and was in school and was actually DOING something, but her response about killed me. So, my point is, that I totally agree with your post, sista!
