Change

Earlier today I was listening to a song that made me think about change and how experiences change our lives. It's called Never Seen Blue. I heard for the first time a week ago and since then I've listened to it a lot. For some reason today it was a little different.

I like this song a lot. Of course she's seen the color blue, but now after what she's experienced/is experiencing it's different. I love it. I love it because I've experienced that before. She's much better at putting into words.

It's similar in Come What May. He feels like he's never seen the sky before because now the world is a different place.

While I was thinking about this it reminded me of the scene in PS I Love You when they kiss for the first time. He says "it's the end of the world as I knew it". I know, it's cheesy. But I still think it's cute.

When I was twelve or thirteen I went to Oakcrest for a week (the camp that I worked at this summer). I loved Oakcrest SO much! It was one of the first really spiritual experiences. I cried and cried when I had to leave and said goodbye to my counselor. When I came home I felt like everything was different. Nothing drastic had happened. I just went away for 5 days, but it was a different and special experience for me and suddenly the world was a little different.

That is the first recollection I have of this change happening. Of course, I've had many other experiences that have had the same effect. Hard trials, first relationship, first kiss, fights with best friends, etc...

I haven't experienced this for a while. Change is constant, or at least more so than before. Anyway I like life and I'm grateful for the new things and changes I get to experience. And I'm only 19... my life is so young!

By the way... Just a random fact. A year from right now I could put mission papers in.

Rain

Yesterday I was talking to a friend about rain. We were talking about how rain makes me sad. I don't remember the exact words he said but this is what I got out of it. Rain doesn't have to make me sad if I realize that the only reason for being sad is that it's raining. Well I was thinking about this as I was walking home from class today. I was thinking about why the rain makes me sad and how I have control over how I feel. I don't have to feel gloomy just because the sun isn't out.

As I was walking home the raindrops were coming down so gently. I decided to not get my umbrella out. I could feel the small drops on my nose and cheeks. I looked around at the wet world. It was beautiful. Although it was cloudy, everything was so colorful. The wet trees and grass were so vibrant. When I was almost home it started to rain harder. I could hear the raindrops hit the ground. I enjoyed the sound they made as they hit puddles. It was noisy yet so peaceful and soothing. This whole thought process led me to think about how incredible the rain is. I was enjoying it. I didn't care that I was wet and cold. As I walked to my building I said a small prayer thanking God for the rain because it made me happy.
