wait

WAIT
Author Unknown

Desperately, helplessly, longingly I cried.
Quietly, patiently, lovingly, God replied.
I pled and I wept for a clue to my fate,
And the Master so gently said, "Child, you must wait."
"Wait? You say, 'wait'!" my indignant reply.
"Lord, I need answers, I need to know why!
Is your hand shortened? Or have you not heard?
By faith, I have asked, and am claiming your Word.
My future and all to which I can relate
hangs in the balance and you tell me to WAIT?
I'm needing a 'yes' a go-ahead sign,
or even a 'no' to which I can resign.
And Lord, you promised that if we believe
we need but to ask, and we shall receive.
And Lord, I've been asking, and this is my cry,
I'm weary of asking, I need a reply!"

Then quietly, softly, I learned of my fate
As my Master replied once again, "You must wait."

So, I slumped in my chair, defeated and taut
And grumbled to God, "So I'm waiting....for what?"

He seemed, then, to kneel, and His eyes wept with mine,
And He tenderly said, "I could give you a sign.
I could shake the heavens, and darken the sun,
I could raise the dead, and cause mountains to run.
All you seek, I could give, and pleased you would be.
You would have what you want- but you wouldn't know Me.

You'd not know the depth of My love for each saint;
You'd not know the power that I give to the faint;
You'd not learn to see through the clouds of despair;
You'd not learn to trust just by knowing I'm there;
You'd not know the joy of resting in Me
When darkness and silence were all you could see.
You'd never experience that fullness of love
As the peace of My Spirit descends like a dove;
You'd know that I give and I save (for a start),
But you'd not know the depth of the beat of My heart.

The glow of My comfort late into the night,
The faith that I give when you walk without sight,
The depth that's beyond getting just what you asked
Of an infinite God, who makes what you have LAST.

You'd never know, should your pain quickly flee,
What it means that 'My grace is sufficient for thee.'
Yes, your dreams for your loved one overnight would come true,
But, oh the loss! If I lost what I'm doing in you!

So, be silent, My child, and in time you will see
That the greatest of gifts is to get to know Me.
And though oft' My answers seem terribly late,
My most precious answer of all is still, 'WAIT'."

One Week in Las Vegas

Well I'm here in Vegas and having such a fun summer! It really is the ideal summer. I'm living with  my sister Janet just working as a part-time nanny.

I get to live with these boys. (you can click on the pictures to make them bigger). My nephews are so cute, I can barely handle it.

Zack (the blondie holding the gas pump) cracks me up! The other day he came up to me and said, "Would you rather die... or die?"  Then he just smiled his cute squinty-eyed smile and said, "You HAVE to choose die!" I just laughed.  On Sunday Ben (the oldest frowning behind bars) asked Zack to pick up a spoon off the kitchen floor. Zack replied, "Yeah, if you do it". We all laughed. Even though he finds pleasure in pinching my bum all the time (he does it at least once a day), I enjoy playing with him everyday.

Simon is SO cute! I really don't think there's a cuter baby out there. Today I was really busy and didn't see Simon until about 4 or 5. When I saw him just playing and talking in his crib I thought, "Wow I haven't seen Simon ALL day long!"  I'm getting used to looking at that cute face every day. I love Ben and Luke too :)  I'm so lucky to be living with them.

My sister Janet is awesome. I knew I would love living with her. We have done many fun things! Just look at the pictures.

I love this picture because of Zack hugging my leg.

The drive-in

The Children's Museum. I could spend all day there. Honestly.

Lots and lots of swimming!

We've done a lot more than that. Basically, I'm having an awesome summer! And I'm making some money too. Can life get any better? Maybe it could... but it's pretty good :)

I do like living in Vegas. The heat really isn't that big of a deal. At first, I thought I was going to die every time we went outside, but it's not that bad. As long as I'm drinking a lot of water, all is good. I don't like the inappropriate billboards or the lack of grass, but there are a lot of things I do like!
Janet is so great. Did I mention that? She really is. She has done and continues to do so much for me. I love her a lot.

There's a lot more I could say, but for now that's the quick update. Life is good!

Oh and to save us both some trouble, no I did not come here to run away from anything. I really didn't. There, now you don't have to ask  :)

My chill music

I sure do love my music. A long time ago my roommate, Melanie, told me that my music was depressing. It's just super chill because that's what I like. And I don't care if some people think it's depressing :) It makes me happy.

Mother's Day

My mom got a poster size, framed picture of her grandkids. After opening it, she went through each child reading them out loud and laughing. She hung it up on the wall right away.

Here are my 30 neices and nephews. I actually have 31. Little Sam is missing. He's about 6 weeks old. He'll make the next one for sure. Most of these emotions are describe their personalities perfectly. I think my favorite is Grace's forsaken, or Betty's heartbroken, or Paisley's perplexed, or Lucy's joyful. I love my family.

My mom loves being a grandma. She loves her grand kids. I almost wish she was my grandma, but I get to have her as my mom!

They're great grandparents.

Really fast, my mom and I went to Pocatello, Idaho last weekend to visit my grandma. It was fun to see my grandma and spend some time with my mom. My dad was going to come, but I'm glad he didn't because mom and I talked and talked and talked. One night we even stayed up until 2:00 a.m. talking!! I told her about my dating experiences and she told me about all of the boys in her dating years. There were a lot! It's been a while since I've stayed up talking like that and I've never done it with my mom!

My mom is hilarious. I'm keeping a quote wall, mostly so I can remember funny things or precious moments. My mom said a lot of things that night.

"Mom, it's getting late, It's like 12:40" - Me
"It's probably good we talked. I kinda feel like we're the same age right now." - Mom

"I haven't talked like this for like twenty years it feels like." - Mom

I don't remember how we got into this conversation, but it just shows how funny that night was...
"I might die in five years" - Mom
"We might die on our way home tomorrow" - Me
"I might die before morning" - Mom
"Mom it's already morning!" - Me

"What time is it?" - Mom
"1:00" - Me
"Oh my goodness I've never stayed up this late!" - Mom
"Never?" - Cindy
"Not hardly" - Mom

"Dad had good brains." - Mom
"Haha good brains??" - Me
"He did. and I really needed that because I dated some real... knuckleheads." - Mom
"Hahahaha" - Me

I will probably remember that night forever. I learned a lot about her. I felt like we were the same age too. It was fun :)

P.S. I finally learned about google reader. I have never used it before. I had 256 new items! I follow a lot of blogs :) I can read blogs without going to their blog! It's awesome.

Well I'm off to California. Camille is back from Romania and we going on a road trip! I can't wait to spend hours and hours in the car with her, we sure do have a lot to catch up on. 4 months worth.

Extra, Extra, Read All About It

Big news this week!
Kevin's engaged!!!! Jen is about to join our crazy family and I can't wait! I was wanting another sister. Kevin has decided to leave our little "unmarried pact". I guess I'll just form my own pact, that consists of me and only me. My wish of attending just one of my sibling's sealings is not going to come true after all, but who cares about that! They're getting married!!!

I know Jen better than anyone else in the family and I love her! Pretty soon she'll be settled in the family. I can't wait. We're a lot a like Jen and I. I feel like we can relate to each other pretty well. Kevin's so happy.

As I watched him teach the gospel in front of a class full of teenagers this morning, I was just grateful to have such a good man as my brother. Even though sometimes I feel we're complete opposite, I'm grateful for his example. He's such a great teacher. It's very easy to see his love of teaching. So, who's luckier, Jen or Kevin?
Congratulations you two!!!

Something less exciting, my hair's dark. I've been talking about doing it for at least a year now. I finally did it. My mom has said, "I'm proud of you" at least three times. What does she mean? If she thinks I wasn't brave enough to do, I showed her! It's been an adjustment for sure. Every time I look in the mirror I'm surprised! I saw my reflection as I was walking into Wal Mart today and I thought "Oh my gosh, that's me, huh?"

Last night my dad was talking to my uncle. I heard his end of the conversation.
"Well we have a wedding coming up and I thought I'd let you know so you can put it on the calendar.... Nope, not Cindy.... She just dyed her hair today so it will be a while..."

I wasn't offended. That was the idea anyway. :)

My nephew, Evan, ran in my house, looked at me, looked at my hair, gave a forced "ha ha", and then said, "Cindy, what happened to your hair?" A few minutes later, "Grandma, what happened to Cindy's hair?"

I don't really know what happened! It just got this way. It's pretty dark isn't it? Every keeps telling me I look like Janet. A summer under her roof, and I might end up just like her.

It's fun to have a change! I guess I'll find out if blondes really do have more fun. I'll let you know what I think later.

P.S. I was reading my last post and I said something about still feeling like me. It made me laugh because I'm always going to feel like me! Did I expect to feel like someone else? Duh! Silly me.

There's something different in the air and it's not just my hair. Something just feels different. I don't know what it is or whether it's good or not. Maybe I'm crazy! That's definitely not different.

I miss them

My freckles are gone and it's 'bout time I get them back!

Maybe I should go somewhere wonderful this summer...

Somewhere hot...

With palm trees...

Maybe, just maybe, I might get my freckles back. And then some.

Oh What a Day

My relationship with school has come to a tragic end. And this is how I feel about it!

Time to move on.

I can't believe it's over. Where in the world has the time gone? As I was thinking about this past year, just reflecting the experiences I've had and the people I've met. It's hard to see what I've learned. I don't feel that different. I still feel like me. However, I was reading a journal entry from about 6 months ago and I thought, "Wow, did I really feel like that? I don't remember being that girl" This doesn't conclude that I've done a lot of changing. It could've just been the mood I was in at that particular time. Nonetheless, I do think I've learned a lot.

I am ready for the year to be over. It's that time now. Does that make it easy? No it doesn't. There's so much that's coming to an end. For good. Just barely one of my roommates came home and for a split second I thought maybe it was Melanie rushing into our bedroom like she always does. But then I remembered that she's gone. I looked over my shoulder to find the other half of my room completely empty. It made me want to cry. I don't want to think about how she'll never be my roommate again. But I can't help it. She's getting married tomorrow. I'm so happy that it's finally here, but I'm just going to miss her so much...  And my other roommates... Mindy's sarcasm and willingness to help at any opportunity... Cori serenading us with her guitar (our personal favorite was "Hey Soul Sister") .... Kate's sweetness and hidden goofiness... and Whitney... I'm going to miss Whitney... Her craziness, her hilarious comments, her realistic views and advice, her surety, in herself and in her faith. I'm going to miss my roommates, my little family outside of my family.

And my ward. All the people I've come to know and love. My visiting teachers. My bishop. This apartment that was my home. My bed. All of it. It's all coming to an end now...

Why did I write on my blog?? Now I'm a big emotional mess. Should've stuck with my original plan, which did not include writing any of this.

Anyway, life moves on. It's constantly changing. Never would I want it to stay the same. I want something new. Something different. But first I have to say goodbye to all of this. I really don't like goodbyes. Sometimes I try to move on and just say goodbye without thinking about it. I try not to think about how it's never going to be the same. It's easier that way. It looks like tonight I'm soaking it all in.

With all of that said, time to move on! I'm ready! I'm ready for an awesome summer. For new experiences. New people.
Just like the song says, nothing can stand in my way! Now that this year is gone, I'm rolling onto something good. :)
